Zedu teaches doctors, nurses, midwives and paramedics from all around the world how to use ultrasound machines.

And to get good at what they do, they must practice and develop their skills on real people.

This is where you can help…

To make sure our learners have the opportunity to develop their skills to be the best they can be, we’re always seeking the services of people willing to act as patient models for the delivery of our courses.

All you need to do is have some time, and the ability to lie down on the job – simple! And you get paid $25 per hour for your time – what could be easier??

And don’t worry if you have health issues such as gallstones, heart disease or diabetes – this is even more important for our medical professionals to encounter in a safe and comfortable training environment.

What does participation look like?

When you come to a Zedu course as a patient model we make your time with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

If it’s your first time, one of our team will take you through what we do and answer any of your questions. If you’re happy then we get you to provide us with a complete consent form [you can see a sample here]. Then we’ll chat about what times you might have available to participate, and when we have a course running will book you into our system. A couple of days out from your session time, you’ll get a text message to confirm that everything is OK and finalise your participation.

On the day of your session you’ll be greeted at the front desk, and when our learners are ready you’ll be asked to enter our Learning HQ. The setup looks like a large ultrasound room – with the latest technology available and private, comfortable scanning spaces. There will be no more than 5 medical professionals with you at any time – 4 learners and one of our experienced sonographer educators who will be leading the session.

Depending on the course you may be asked to lie down and show your tummy, chest or legs, or sit up and show your arms or back. Warm gel will be put on you and each person will get the chance to take ultrasound pictures of you. You’ll get the opportunity to listen in and learn too.

Once the session is over we’ll give you a fresh clean towel to wipe any ultrasound gel off – and then have another chat to see what times you may have available for future sessions.
