Zedu Weekly Wrap – 12 August 2022
Will make this one quick…
as we’re hitting the road and delivering workshops throughout regional Victoria this weekend. No rest for the wicked – I think this is the 20th straight day teaching. If you’re looking for a career that involves long nights and travel to far flung locations you can forget the rockstar pathway – try #POCUS educator! It may not pay as well as being in a band, but we certainly have fun.
The theme in the news this week seems to be echo and haemodynamic assessment. Of interest is research into lawsuits related to POCUS in the ED by Brian Russ, Jason Arthur, Zachary Lewis and Gregory Snead, which revisits a study first conducted by Michael Blaivas and Richard Pawl in 2011. After 10 years the results remain the same – nonperformance of ultrasound seems to convey the greatest medicolegal risk. Other highlights this week include a case from Sam Ghali (@EM_RESUS) and @yourICM articles on how ultrasound is saving lives in intensive care medicine. Well worth checking out.
And please drop in and join our POCUS Educators / Seed resource page and POCUS Educators / Seed Support Network on Facebook – it is growing rapidly with people logging in from all over the world. We’re dedicated to creating an education community to share resources and ideas – we’d love to see you there.
That’s all for now…see you next week
Suean and Mike
P.S. –Â The August coaching corner – covering the basics of breast #ultrasound – recording will be available on our website soon. Register & join our community of clever here…
Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta! We’re running this internationally recognised course in Australia for the first time in July and October – don’t miss out.

Strange recommendation from @Ilcor_org on #POCUS in cardiac arrest. They present a false dichotomy of *either* high quality CPR *or* POCUS for reversible causes.
